CBD at THE SPA

My full time gig is working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a very busy family practice clinic. I see a ton of pain, anxiety, insomnia, and depression. I have noticed throughout the years that many of my patients plagued with these issues do not like to take medicine or it does not work. Since I developed a love for research when I was in graduate school, I began researching alternatives. Intrigued by the CBD hype I decided to investigate.

The human body's endocannabinoid system is a vast network of receptors and helps to maintain overall health. CBD assists the body by activating the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and glutamate which are involved in cognition, motivation, motor control, and learning. CBD aids in decreasing inflammation, regulating hormones and reducing sebum production making it ideal for treatment of pain, anxiety, depression, acne, acne scars, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, and aging. CBD has many useful properties. It is a powerful adaptogen and acts as an antioxidant, so therefore it decreases the effects of hormones and other compounds that are released into the body in times of stress such as kinase, nitric oxide, and cortisol. It also neutralizes free radical damage to prevent damage to cells and also assists the body to re-generate cells to repair itself naturally. Free radicals can cause an accelerated breakdown of collagen so CBD in turn helps slow down the process of collagen loss as you age. CBD also has moisturizing properties that helps combat dehydration and dryness, ultimately helping to prevent wrinkles and maintain a firm, youthful skin appearance.

More convinced than ever that CBD could not only help many of my patients in my clinic, I realized it also could also benefit the skin care concerns I see in my spa. So then I started my hands on research. Planning a trip to Colorado I planned to visit CBD distributors and consider retailing their products. Only if they met this specific criteria:

organic, safe, non toxic, and non animal tested product

made via CO2 extraction since this extraction method was deemed superior in my research and produced the highest quality products

organic oils such as advocado or olive oil used as carrier oils since others may pose a threat to those with a nut allergy or are of low quality.

 Dragonfly Botanicals stood out

They not only met all of my criteria but I loved the story it was founded upon. You see Co owner and founder, Heather Baruch is as a Registered Nurse (RN). She worked in a Denver hospital for many years. After years of inner ear congestion and endless visits to multiple doctors and toxic prescription medications, she became intrigued by the holistic approach and decided to take courses to complete a Master Herbalist Certification. Her new found excitement of how plant-based elements really work to bring the body to homeostasis, and being more aware of toxic food fillers in most products, prompted her to start making a few products for herself and her family. This was the very beginning of Taspen's Organics and Dragonfly Botanicals.
Dragonfly uses highest quality organic, Colorado grown hemp extracted by a 100% natural extraction method which is the cleanest, the C02 extraction method as opposed to butane or alcohol. This full spectrum extract is used to handcraft their products, blending it with high-quality, organic olive oil, organic avocado oil, and organics essential oils. Every batch is third-party tested to ensure quality and purity.
I took the products home and personally used them for a year. I'm excited to finally be an approved retailer and offer these at THE SPA.
