FAQ

Q: How does it work?

A: By creating a series of hundreds of microscopic skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin's natural healing process to prompt the production of new collagen and elastin, helping skin to look and feel healthier.

Q: What are the benefits?

A: Micro-needling can significantly improve the appearance and texture of your skin. It can minimize pore size, fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: Every client has different skin concerns and different expectations. This is why we recommend to come in for a client consultation before making a decision. However, it is recommended for most clients to receive a series of 3-6 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart per year to maintain your youthful skin. A consistent skincare regimen and healthy diet also has a huge effect of your results!

Q: Does the procedure hurt?

A: You can expect none to mild discomfort. We use a pharmacy mixed numbing cream to minimize as much discomfort as possible. (Please note: No aspirin, blood thinning, or anti-inflammatory medication 72 hours before the procedure.)

Q: How long does the procedure take?

A: The procedure itself takes only 15-20 minutes. However, before the procedure a numbing cream will sit for about 15-20 minutes. From start to finish, you can expect the whole procedure to take about 30-45 mins tops.

Q: What are the risk of microneedling?

A: Damage may include bleeding, swelling, redness, tightness, itching and peeling, and these typically go away after a few days.

Q: When will I see results?

A: Down time for this procedure is 7-10 days that you can experience mild itching, tightness, and peeling. Most clients will see results within 1-2 weeks after the procedure. However, expect optimal results after about 4-6 weeks.

Q: Who is NOT a candidate?

A: Clients with:

  • - Active skin cancer in treatment area(s)
  • - Open wounds and/or sores
  • - Pregnant or nursing
  • - Allergy to stainless steal or anesthetics
  • - Currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)
  • - Any type of hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) disfunction

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Our microneedling procedure cost for a full face is $300 (full neck is complimentary). If you are currently on a ZO Skin Health skincare regimen we recommend our additional $75 ZO Booster Serums for optimal results.

You may have heard about the latest skincare trend, the vampire facial, made famous by reality TV stars. The actual procedure is way less scary than it sounds, and it's available to more than just celebrities. The vampire facial, also known as microneedling with PRP, is a cosmetic procedure that involves drawing blood from your arm, separating platelets and applying them back onto your face. This procedure has many benefits, including younger looking skin, and is only gaining in popularity.

What is a vampire facial?

A vampire facial is a combination of microneedling and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Microneedling uses short, fine needles to puncture the skin. Rest assured, the needles feel like tiny pinpricks and only go skin-deep. The pricks are used to "injure" the skin, prompting your skin to heal itself by producing elastin and collagen, and allowing the PRP to penetrate deeper.

As the provider is microneedling, PRP is applied to your skin topically. PRP is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein produced from blood. PRP has a large concentration of growth factors, helping tissue to heal and repair, treating all types of skin issues.

What is the process?

The first step is the initial blood draw, which is relatively painless. Your blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells.

Before the microneedling portion of the treatment begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to the face to manage any discomfort of the needling.

Once the numbing cream is active after 20-30 minutes and the microneedling will begin and the PRP is rubbed on the skin. The PRP should remain on the skin for the rest of the day to maximize results. Patients will notice dry, red, sensitive skin, much like a light sunburn for the first few days after treatment.

What are the benefits?

There are many benefits to the vampire facial, including boosting the turnover of skin cells, improving skin tone and texture. Microneedling with PRP will also reduce fine lines and signs of aging. This treatment can be especially helpful for those who suffered from acne and have visible acne scars or skin damage from prolonged exposure to the sun.

Am I a candidate?

Most everyone is a candidate for microneedling with PRP. This procedure can give a fresher appearance to those with wrinkles and fine lines, high levels of sun damage, or uneven skin tones. You may not be a candidate if you have a history of blood disease, including clotting or bleeding disorders.
